Welcome to the Village of Green Oaks

IBernard Wysocki would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Green Oaks internet site. Hopefully our site will provide you with needed information about the village of Green Oaks. The Village of Green Oaks is a small and proud community approximately 30 miles north of O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. Our community is rich in tradition that affords the pleasantries of quiet country living, excellent schools, access to major highways and tollways, single family home on large lots, all complemented by our growing commercial and retail business district.

If you are just browsing or are looking for specific information, our site has much to offer. I hope you will enjoy the information we have provided. If there is something you wish to find out about our village, you may send specific questions to vilgrnoaks@aol.com for an appropriate reply.

2019 Road Improvement Project

This project is now underway!
  • Contractor: Peter Baker and Sons, Co
  • Res. Engineer: RHMG Engineers, Inc
  • Scope of Work: Milling, Pulverization, and Full Depth Reclamation with cement sterilizations along 8.26 miles of Village roads. Includes cross-road culvert replacement, curb repairs, and manhole adjustments
  • Location: 1. North of Rt 137  2. Rt 137 to Atkinson Rd  3. South of Atkinson Rd
  • Contract Time: 75 Working Days - September 2019 (Weather permitting)

Progress continues to be made on the 2019 Road Improvement Project. Updates for specific project areas are below:

Update as of 11/15/2019 at 2pm

Work is complete on all streets south of Route 137 except for punch list items (touchups, repairs, removal of extra driveway bricks).  Landscaping remains to be completed along Hanlon Road, but all other work is complete. Please contact us if there are any outstanding issues.

Reigate Woods – The contractor is preparing to pave next week.  Additional salting and the breaking up of the snowpack along the curbline will occur today (Friday) and tomorrow.  The start of paving will depend on weather conditions next week, and we anticipate that streets will be cleaned and primed Monday, with the start of paving later Monday or Tuesday morning.  The paving will take approximately two and a half days, and the work will start with the cul-de-sacs and finish with the paving of Reigate Lane and Braemore Close.

During installation of the surface layer, the asphalt will need to set up after rolling prior to being opened to traffic so as to not mar the surface.  Some driveway and side-street access will be limited near the paving operations for a few hours after placement to permit the asphalt time to cure.  If you have any reason to need ingress/egress during the paving operations, please coordinate in advance with Lisa.

Herky Drive Access Improvements

Herky Drive, located in the business district, remains closed due to cold temperatures.  The contractor attempted to pave this week but was unable to complete the work due to temperatures and snow.  The reopening now scheduled for the week of November 18 due to the unseasonably cold temperatures.  Until then, vehicular access to Herky Drive will be through the Bradley Road Extension at the signalized intersection of Route 176 and Bradley Road.

Thank you for your patience during construction & continuing to keep vehicle speeds down through the construction zones for everyone’s safety. Please remember to keep windows closed while work is in progress due to dusty conditions.
